The parish registers for the parishes of Ghent have been microfilmed by the City Archives. A list has been compiled and is available here.

If your ancestors are
from Gent, you are lucky in that Gent has all the city,
church, hospital, family papers and any other record you can
think of dating back to the 1300's.

Having never had a major
fire, they have amassed over 15km of archives.


Browsing through history - this manuscript dates back to 1333!
Older documents are stored at the university.

These letters were written by William of Orange, named "the
Silent", the main leader of the uprise of the Netherlands
against the Spanish in the 16th century.

What you are looking for may not be on film, but is possibly
hidden in these old registers!
